Graham Jacobson
Graham Jacobson (b. 1994) is a Los Angeles-based composer/arranger, saxophonist, essayist and educator. As an undergraduate, Graham was part of the cutting edge of jazz scholarship: he received his training at the Center for Jazz Studies (Columbia University), the Juilliard School, and Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) while deejaying for WKCR-FM.
While studying at JALC’s Swing University, Graham was handpicked by curator Phil Schaap to join its special symposium for training 21st century jazz educators. He became one of three individuals (and the youngest when awarded) to receive Swing U’s Jazz Master accreditation, recognized by artistic director Wynton Marsalis as the most difficult and comprehensive test of knowledge and listening skills pertaining to jazz’s 100+ year history.
Graham began developing Shellac! as an outgrowth of this vast education, to democratize awareness of and access to 78-era American music, and he is thrilled to finally bring it to the listening public.
